You must know the truth before you vote

The following is for educational purposes only. CAAP is non-partisan and does not endorse or support any candidate for elected office.

We put a lot of responsibility on our elected officials, and it is well-deserved. After all, they are the ones making decisions that affect people’s lives. Many times, these can be life-or-death choices.

However, as voters, we also have a responsibility. We are the ones to put those people in office. To some extent we share the blame for their successes, failures, and decisions. This is especially true when their actions are a direct reflection of their publicly-held views and campaign platform.

That is why voters have to educate themselves about every candidate before casting a vote. As tempting as it may be to vote for one candidate over another based on your general likes and dislikes, this is not a middle school student council election. The future of our country – and often the lives of others – is affected by our choices.

For that reason, I want to share this video with you. I want to make it clear that I do not know the man behind the video. He’s not affiliated with CAAP. And we don’t usually share videos from unassociated creators. But I think his message is important, and therefore worth making an exception.

The unfortunate truth is that many people are trying to turn this election into an issue of personalities and individual likes or dislikes. But this is too important a decision to make without all the facts.

For better or worse, Pres. Trump is a known commodity. He is open about his political positions and history. We have his last term by which to judge his performance, and we know what he will do if elected.

Vice-President Harris, however, is more of a mystery. There has been a lack of openness about her positions, where she departs from the Biden administration, and where she might choose to be even more liberal than her predecessor. She has little political history for us to draw upon in making a decision, and few have bothered to look deeply into her political philosophy.

That is why this video is essential viewing.

As voters, we have a responsibility to make an educated choice in November. I have no desire to tell you how to vote, but I pray that you will make that choice in full knowledge of the consequences. Do not make your decision based on campaign rhetoric. Get a full picture of the candidate and where he or she will lead this country, and then choose based on what you believe the best path will be.

Christians cannot sit out of the war for the soul of our nation. We are called upon to help lead America in the right direction. That is why we must educate ourselves and others about the issues at stake.

Please watch the video above and share it (and this message) with anyone you think might need to learn more about the candidates. And please also consider making a donation to CAAP in order to help us continue educating voters.

To be a good Christian requires us to be good citizens and good neighbors. In this case, it means learning more about the candidates before making a decision that will affect our communities, our nation, and the world.
