More than two decades later, I can still remember where I was when we got the news. The towers fell, the Pentagon was hit, a field in Pennsylvania bore the wreckage of another flight … and nothing would ever be the same again.
Though time has passed, our admiration for the heroes of September 11th has not dimmed. They still stand as an example of true bravery and self-sacrifice in an era that desperately needs such virtues. If you ever doubt that we can still be one America, united by our love of freedom, remember the days that followed 9/11.
Today is a solemn day. We promised all those years ago that we would never forget. And we never will.
I hope you will join me once again in praying for the heroes and victims of 9/11 and for our nation.
