Oral Roberts University will always hold a place close to my heart.
Deborah is a graduate of ORU. What’s more, it is the place where I first launched the Give Me a Chance Ministry, aimed at helping disadvantaged young people get the opportunity to attend college.
ORU is a small, Christian school that believes in Biblical values. It doesn’t spend a lot of time on the national stage. But when the ORU basketball team shocked the sporting world by making it to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament (known as “March Madness”), the school’s history and values suddenly became a target for the leftist “cancel” mob.
Radicals now want to “cancel” ORU – or at least its sports – all because the school adheres to traditional Christian values and a Biblical worldview. While they can’t (yet) close the school completely, they want to marginalize ORU by banning it from the NCAA basketball tournaments and other competitions.
We did not exaggerate when we warned that the left would not be satisfied until all Christian and conservative voices were silenced, pushed out of the public square, or intimidated into embracing the LGBTQ agenda.
And this won’t end with ORU. Other schools, from Catholic colleges and high schools to private Christians schools, will surely find themselves targeted for daring to believe in the Bible. Churches, hospitals, and any organization with a religious background will find itself forced to choose between “cancellation” and abandoning its principles.
This is one of the reasons why it’s so important to defeat the so-called “Equality Act.” The bill is currently in the Senate, and would create the legal justification that the leftist cancel mob needs to destroy religious freedom and enforce the LGBTQ agenda.
We must stand up against these extremists. Be sure to contact your Senator and let him/her know how you feel about the “Equality Act.” And if you haven’t already done so, be sure to sign our petition opposing the bill.
If we don’t shut down the cancel mob and put an end to the intolerance, we will see our freedoms chipped away to nothing.
