Today, is the day that we say “thank you” to the fathers in our lives. It’s an open secret that Father’s Day is sometimes treated as a lesser event than Mother’s Day, as though dads are somehow less important than moms are.
We know, of course, that this is untrue. Fathers and mothers are complementary, each fulfilling an important role in the family and in the rearing of children. In our culture, the work that fathers do often goes unremarked and unappreciated, yet they bear a tremendous burden and are expected never to complain about it.
That’s why I want to ask you to join me in praying for all the fathers today (and those who stand in the role of fathers, including grandfathers, uncles, brothers, and the other important father-figures in your life).
Dear Lord, please bless all the fathers today. Ease their burdens and let them know that their sacrifices are understood and appreciated. Give them the strength and courage to stand in righteousness and the wisdom to show compassion as needed. Help them guide their children as they raise them in faith and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
From all of us at CAAP, we wish all the fathers a joyful Father’s Day.
