As the season of Lent draws to a close, it is time to prepare for Easter. Those preparations reach their high point during Holy Week, when we remember Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection.
For Christians, it is a solemn and sacred time that calls us to reflect on our sins and failings. This year, I have been thinking a lot about the words of Psalm 116:
What shall I return to the Lord
for all his goodness to me?
What have we done to prepare for the coming of the Lord? Have we followed His teachings? Have we stood up for His truth?
I know that it can sometimes be difficult to be a Christian in the modern world. The Left – and its allies in media and entertainment – are determined to destroy the foundations of the family and marginalize religion entirely. Having already launched an attack on motherhood and the unborn, they are now trying to erase the idea of womanhood by redefining it into nothingness.
Temptation and sin are around every corner, asking us to abandon our values and remain silent rather than face the consequences of standing up for Biblical principle.
But as Jesus took up His cross, we must take up ours. The slurs and abuse of our enemies are nothing next to the rewards of everlasting life.
There are trials and challenges around us, but we are not alone. The Lord walks beside us, and He will bring us comfort and eternal rewards.
This Holy Week, let us find comfort and inspiration in the prayers and rituals of our faith. Remember that God hears us and knows that we are following His will. In the words of Psalm 116:
The Lord is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
The Lord protects the unwary;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
